About Us
21+ only (18+ where a state sets that age). Gambling involves risk and you can lose money. If poker stops being fun, call 1-800-GAMBLER.
Best Online Poker Sites (poker-websites.us.org) is an independent comparison site for people who want to play online poker for real money in the United States. We research poker sites and apps, compare them on the factors that matter at the table and at the cashier, and explain the trade-offs so you can decide where, or whether, to play. We assume you already know the game. Our focus is the operators.
Commercial disclosure: how this site earns money
We may earn a commission when you click a link to a poker site and sign up or deposit. That is a material connection, and we state it plainly. Commission does not buy position. Rankings come from our editorial assessment, and an operator cannot pay to move up, or to have a weakness left out. Sponsored placement, if it ever exists, will be labeled as such.
What we compare and why
Different players need different things, so we look at a consistent set of factors:
- Traffic and liquidity: whether your preferred game and stakes are likely to run at the hours you play, and how soft the player pool appears.
- Game range: No Limit Hold'em, Pot Limit Omaha, mixed games, tournaments, Sit & Gos, Spin-style lottery formats and fast-fold tables.
- Rake, rakeback and loyalty: what the room takes, and what comes back through rewards.
- Bonus terms: the headline offer, plus the wagering or playthrough requirement, time limit and eligibility that decide whether it is worth having.
- Payments: deposit and withdrawal methods, crypto options, fees, limits, and cash-out times as stated by the operator.
- Software and mobile: client quality, iOS and Android access, and HUD or tracking tool policy.
- Trust: licensing claims, fair play and RNG information, KYC checks, fund handling and customer support.
How we research, and what we don't claim
Our work is desk research. We review operator terms, licensing statements, payment pages and promotion conditions, and we check them against what the operators publish. We do not claim to have played, deposited or withdrawn at these sites as part of our ratings. Where something is operator advertising, such as a speed or bonus figure, we treat it as a claim rather than a tested result. Where we cannot confirm something, we say so.
Time-sensitive details, including bonuses, payment options and state availability, were last checked on Sep 30, 2026. They change often, so confirm current terms on the operator's site before you deposit.
Our editorial ratings
The scores shown beside each site are editorial ratings from our own assessment. They are not customer-review scores and are not averaged from player feedback. A high rating means a site fits our criteria well, not that it suits every player or that you will win.
The sites currently on our lists, in rank order, are Coinpoker, Bovada, Stake.us, Ignition, Americas Card Room, Black Chip Poker, Ya Poker, BC Poker, Betonline and Jack Poker. Each has drawbacks, which we set out on the relevant pages: bonus conditions that can be demanding, payment methods that vary by state, or a smaller player pool at some stakes.
Legal status in the US: what to know first
Online poker law in the US is decided state by state. Some states regulate real money online poker through a state gaming commission or board; in others it is restricted or not permitted. A site that accepts US customers is not automatically licensed or authorized in your state. Before you play, check your state regulator's list of approved operators, your age eligibility and any local restrictions. We do not claim any operator holds a specific license unless we can verify it, and nothing here is legal advice.
Some sites offer sweepstakes-style or coin-based play, which works differently from cash poker. Read the rules and how prizes are redeemed before joining.
Bonuses, read with their conditions
We never present a bonus without its terms. A match offer usually carries a playthrough requirement, a deadline and eligibility limits, and some payment methods may be excluded. A bonus is not free money: you usually have to deposit and play to earn it, and you can lose that deposit. Our Terms and Conditions cover the use of this site.
Responsible play comes first
Poker is a game of skill and chance, and skill does not remove the risk of losing. Never treat it as income or a fix for money worries, and only play with money you can afford to lose. Set deposit and time limits, and never chase losses. If you are in the US and worried about gambling, call or text 1-800-GAMBLER, and use any self-exclusion tools your state or operator provides. We will never encourage you to work around them. See our Responsible Gambling page for more support.
Contact and corrections
If you spot an outdated term, a factual error or a broken link, tell us through our Contact Us page. We review reports and correct verified mistakes. We can't help with account or payment problems at a poker site, so contact that operator's support for those.
Our site also has a page on non-US casino options, non GamStop casinos, which is aimed at UK readers and sits outside our US poker coverage.
